COGNITIVE RADIO

Nowadays the Cognitive Radio Systems (CRS) concept is one of the most extensively studied fields in Telecommunications. Concretely, the future implementation of this technology will allow us utilizing in a much more efficient way the natural resources associated with the radio frequency spectrum by mean of the establishment of secondary communications into the temporally unoccupied spectrum portions of the current licensed bands. This research group is intended to collaborate with the development of CR by proposing and simulating optimization techniques for the opportunistic spectrum access applied to the wireless communications systems existing today. The optimization algorithms, spectrum sensing, and overlay communications represent the principal topics under research.

Research/Studies areas in this field are:

*Deployment scenarios for Cognitive Radio Systems (CRS)
*CRS to facilitate coexistence in shared bands
*Regulatory implications for CRS
*Dynamic Spectrum Access
*Dynamic spectrum auction and economics; Business model, pricing, and regulations for dynamic spectrum
*Physical Layer Issues of Advanced Radio communications Systems
*Simulations of Radio communications Systems (Baseband Performance Analysis)
*Co-existence of Radio communications Services
